Kuraray builds new feedstock storage plant in the Industriepark Höchst
A new feedstock store in the Industriepark Höchst serves to optimise production supplies for Kuraray Europe GmbH. The specialist chemical manufacturer is the leading vendor of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and the Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) which is derived from it and sold in Europe under the brand names KURARAY POVAL™, Mowital® and Trosifol®.
Feedstock delivery by inland shipping
The feedstock for producing PVA will be delivered in inland vessels. Kuraray benefits from a location that favours freight supplies and has excellent traffic connections. The Industriepark Höchst is situated close to the Frankfurt airport alongside a highway, is connected to the Deutsche Bahn rail network and has its own river harbour with several inland shipping berths. Infraserv Logistics is responsible for the safe, professional handling of feedstock between supply vessels and the tanks. The tank farm itself is connected to production by a pipeline network. Infraserv Höchst installed the necessary filling equipment, laid the pipes and built pipeline bridges. A total of 3,700 metres of pipelines transport the feedstock from the tanks to the production site. “The on-site cooperation with our partners went without a hitch”, says Jürgen Brandt, Director Technology for Kuraray Europe. The tank farm was taken into service in July 2016 after only 11 months of construction.
