Deutsche ReGas Completes FEED Phase of H2-Hub Lubmin, Germany
Deutsche ReGas, a leading European energy infrastructure operator, has successfully completed the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase for the H2-Hub Lubmin project. The company is planning the construction of a 200 MW electrolyzer by the end of 2026 as part of Phase I, with an expansion to 500 MW by 2028 in Phase II. Phase I is expected to produce up to 30,000 tons of green hydrogen per year, while Phase II will increase capacity to 80,000 tons annually.
The H2-Hub Lubmin is directly connected to the Flow Hydrogen Core Network, ensuring a reliable and secure supply to customers in Eastern Germany and industrial hubs in the southwest of the country. Deutsche ReGas had acquired the land for the production facility in the summer of 2022 and expanded it further in 2023.
"The completion of the FEED phase marks a significant milestone in the development of the H2-Hub Lubmin," said David Ibáñez, Head of Hydrogen Strategies at Deutsche ReGas. "Our hydrogen projects will play a vital role in strengthening the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region and contribute to the decarbonization of Germany's industrial sector."
In addition to the H2-Hub Lubmin, Deutsche ReGas recently announced plans for the development of the H2-Import Terminal Lubmin, the world’s first floating import terminal for hydrogen. The terminal is set to begin operations in 2026, producing around 30,000 tons of green hydrogen annually.
