Novacap, a leading company in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, has launched a new on-purpose Di isopropyl Ether (DIPE) unit. The plant was designed using an innovative and environmentally-friendly process. DIPE is used in the pharmaceutical industry as a solvent and in the crystallisation process. It is also used as a specialty solvent for resins, coatings, and dyes, as well as in environmental sectors like waste water treatment. The new plant, located on the Roussillon chemical platform, has a capacity of approximately 5,000 tons and is part of Novacap's strategy to become a leader in chemicals and life sciences.

Novacap, a market leader in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry and a major European player in oxygenated solvents through its Performance Chemicals Division, is continuing its development strategy for high added-value products with the launch of a new on-purpose Di isopropyl Ether (DIPE) unit. The new fully upstream integrated plant was designed using an innovative, environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient process.

To celebrate this event, Novapex has organized a ceremony on September 7 th in the presence of elected
representatives, customers and business partners.

DIPE will increase the range of oxygenated solvents already produced by the division, which also include, Isopropanol, Acetone, and more recently, in 2014, Isopropyl Acetate, which earned the prestigious Pierre Potier prize for scientific and technological innovation.

DIPE is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry as an extractive solvent and in the crystallisation process of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

DIPE is also used as a specialty solvent for resins, coatings and dyes and for new applications in environmental sectors like waste water treatment

"The innovative process used to manufacture Di isopropyl Ether re-defines new standards in terms of quality and is a further step in our growth strategy to invest in high added-value oxygenated solvents and speciality products," explained Laurent Castor, Division Vice-President - Performance Chemicals.

The new plant, built on the Roussillon chemical platform, will have capacity of circa 5,000 tons. This project is an integral part of the Novacap Group strategy to become a leader in chemicals and life sciences, with a priority development focus on pharmaceutical industry markets.
