CABB gmbh

CABB International GmbH (originally Clariant (Acetyl Building Blocks) GmbH & Co. KG) is a multinational chemical group active in chlorination, sulfonation and methylation. CABB supplies basic materials to customers in the agro- and pharmaceutical industry. These include the main product monochloroacetic acid (MCAA) and its derivatives. In Specialty Chemicals, CABB supplies fine-chemical components for additives, cosmetics, fragrances and perfumes and detergents.

The company based in Sulzbach am Taunus emerged in 2003 from the Swiss chemical group Clariant. The CABB Group, which includes Swiss CABB AG (formerly SF-Chem AG), Indian Karnavati Rasayan Ltd. And the Finnish KemFine, employs 1,000 people worldwide and generated a total turnover of more than 400 million euros in 2012. The company was owned by the financial investor Bridgepoint from April 2011 to April 2014, since then it belongs to the financial investor Permira.

The CABB Group has a total of five production sites. The largest production site is located in Switzerland in Pratteln (near Basel) in the former plant of the former SF-Chem. There, chlorine and sulfur reagents, intermediate products and more highly refined secondary products are produced. In the German Knapsack near Cologne, the company operates the world's largest plant for the production of monochloroacetic acid according to its own data. A second location in Germany is located in Gersthofen (near Augsburg), where chlorine, mono-, di- and trichloroacetic acid, their esters and glycolic acid are mainly produced. In Ahmedabad is the largest plant for the production of monochloracetic acid in India. Since August 2011, Kokkola has been part of the CABB Group in Finland. There, fine and special chemical products are mostly manufactured for companies of the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industry worldwide.
