Expansion of Production Capacity for Gas Blacks at Cologne Germany by Orion Engineered Carbons

Orion Engineered Carbons is expanding its production capacity for Gas Blacks at its plant in Cologne, Germany, in response to the growing global market for waterborne and solvent borne coatings. Gas Blacks are known for their excellent fineness and narrow particle size distribution, making them ideal for demanding coatings customers. This expansion is part of Orion's strategy to focus on higher value-added Carbon Blacks for specialty and technical rubber applications. The products from the Cologne plant are shipped globally to customers in various high-end coatings and printing applications.

Orion Engineered Carbons S.A, a worldwide supplier of specialty and high-performance Carbon Black, today announced the Company will expand its production capacity for Gas Blacks at its Cologne (Kalscheuren) plant, Germany.

Orion is responding to the continuously growing global market for waterborne and solvent borne coatings by debottlenecking our gas black production. Orion’s Gas Blacks feature excellent fineness and a very narrow particle size distribution to provide the deepest blackness Specialty Carbon Blacks available for demanding coatings customers.
