Bondalti reinforces international setting with new factory in Torrelavega, Spain

Bondalti has started the operations of its new plant in Torrelavega, in the Cantabria region of northern Spain.

The Torrelavega plant represents a total investment of 60 million euros and positions Bondalti as the main producer in the Chlor-Alcalis segment in the Iberian Peninsula. With an installed capacity of 68,000 tonnes / year, this new facility focus on chlorine, caustic soda, hydrogen, hydrochloric acid and sodium hypochlorite production, meeting market demand for polyurethane and PVC production, treatment and water purification, production of textile, pulp, aluminium, cleaning products and applications in the vast majority of manufactured goods.

Bondalti's Spanish unit, located in one of the most important industrial parks in the Iberian Peninsula, owned by Solvay, represented nearly two years of dedicated work by Bondalti’s technicians and contracted teams, whose previous experience in the Estarreja unit was key to the implementation of the most advanced production practices available, namely chlorine with membrane technology, which stands out for its high energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The socio-economic impact on Torrelavega, a small town about 30 kilometers from Santander, is also relevant, as a result of the creation of 150 direct and indirect jobs. Generating opportunities for the local community is also one of Bondalti's priorities, under its social sustainability policy.
