Sines, Portugal: The Key Entry Point for US Energy Exports

Attending an event, where the role of Sines as port of destination for the first North American LNG export was recalled, Republican Steve Scalise reaffirmed that "Portugal can play a central role as a point of entry for US energy exports" and that diversification of LNG provenance, entering Europe, may have a stabilizing effect, reducing dependency of several European countries.

The CEO of aicep Global Parques, Francisco Mendes Palma, took part in the event highlighting the features of ZILS - Zona Industrial e Logística de Sines as a competitive location for the Portugal-US joint strategy. The energy cluster, identified by aicep Global Parques as a development target at ZILS, will be the focus of several activities planned to attract investment, namely concerning the natural gas industry.

The role of Portugal, in particular the role of Sines, which offers suitable conditions to be an energy hub, is, therefore, preponderant in guaranteeing Europe's security and energy independence.
