SPOLCHEMIE announced the conversion to a membrane electrolysis
SPOLCHEMIE - Spolek pro chemickou a hutní výrobu, a.s. announces the plan to launch the new membrane electrolysis in the 2nd half of 2016. The nominal annual capacity of the new plant will be 60.000dmt of KOH and 43.000dmt of NaOH.
Construction works on a site in Usti nad Labem, the Czech Republic commenced in 2014 and are now near completion. The new plant will substitute the current mercury electrolysis, which is to be phased out in line with the EU legislation.
By this step, SPOLCHEMIE will comply with the environmental requirements of the European Union and ensure the long-term sustainability of its vertically integrated site.
With the membrane electrolysis project SPOLCHEMIE strengthens its strategic position of the leading producer of potassium hydroxide in Central Europe and significant player on the EU market.
